I suppose FSB weren’t as good crafting memorable tunes as they were playing and arranging other people’s work. With some songs that weren’t huge hits elsewhere, the Finnish covers have become definitive versions to people who first heard them back in the day. IMO he should have closed the tune after the solo-piano part!

While rock mythology tends to reserve just scorn for those not writing their own material, covering someone else’s tunes in your language has been standard practice among popular music for ages, and sometimes those versions become more popular and better known than the originals.
I mean, how many English-speaking people have heard “My Way” and know about “Comme d’habitude”? Quite enjoyable a listen still, even if you know the originals.
